The House of McCallum McWarrior Teaninich 9 Year Old is a limited single cask Highland single malt inspired by one of Scotland's most celebrated heroines, Flora MacDonald. Best known for helping Prince Charles Edward Stuart evade capture following the Jacobite Rising of 1745, Flora's courage and determination have become woven into Scottish history. This whisky pays tribute to that remarkable story, combining Highland character with the rich influence of a carefully selected Ruby Port cask.
Distilled in 2016 at Teaninich Distillery and matured for nine years, this single malt has spent its maturation in a single Ruby Port cask, adding vibrant fruit character and gentle sweetness to the distillery's naturally fresh and floral spirit. The result is a whisky that balances youthful vibrancy with elegant cask influence, creating a distinctive expression full of depth and personality.
The nose opens with generous aromas of rich Christmas cake, sweet orange marmalade, and toasted almonds. On the palate, fresh floral notes mingle with ripe red fruits, warming gingerbread, and juicy sultanas, creating a wonderfully rounded and expressive flavour profile. The Port cask complements rather than dominates the spirit, allowing the Highland character to remain at its core.
The finish is smooth, gently warming, and pleasantly spicy, with lingering ginger beer notes providing a refreshing lift. Rich in flavour and inspired by one of Scotland's greatest legends, the McWarrior Teaninich 9 Year Old is a memorable single cask whisky that celebrates both craftsmanship and heritage.
