The Vietti Barolo 2021 is a classic and richly expressive Piedmont red, showcasing the elegance, structure and aromatic complexity of Nebbiolo from across the Barolo DOCG.
Produced from 100% Nebbiolo, the fruit is sourced from around 20 carefully selected vineyard sites across the municipalities of Barolo. The vines range from approximately 10 to 45 years old and grow in the region's ancient limestone and clay-rich soils, contributing fine yet firm tannins, minerality and freshness.
Each individual vineyard parcel is vinified and aged separately to preserve its individual character. Following gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in steel tanks over approximately three to four weeks with extended skin contact and the traditional submerged-cap method. Malolactic fermentation takes place in oak before the wines spend around 30 months in large Slavonian and French oak casks. The individual parcels are then carefully blended before bottling.
Rich and opulent, the wine offers layers of plum alongside red, black and sour cherry. Classic Nebbiolo aromas of rose petal and tobacco provide further complexity, supported by fine structure and a distinctive savoury character.
The finish is long and elegant, with lingering fruit, tobacco and a characteristic leathery note.
