New Make Spirit - Made by Edinburgh
Raw, unapologetic, and bursting with potential, New Make Spirit - Made by Edinburgh is a glimpse into the soul of whisky before it slumbers in oak. Crafted in Scotland’s historic capital, this unaged spirit captures the pure essence of the distiller’s craft, offering a vibrant and unfiltered taste of the future whisky-to-be.
Distilled with care and precision, this new make spirit uses premium malted barley and pure Scottish water to deliver a robust yet balanced flavour profile. Bottled straight from the stills, it reflects the foundation of any great whisky, showcasing the bold and lively character of the grain and fermentation process.
On the nose, expect clean and crisp aromas of sweet malted barley, green apples, and a delicate floral freshness. The palate is surprisingly smooth for such a young spirit, with notes of creamy cereal, fresh pear, and a hint of citrus zest. A whisper of spice lingers as the finish delivers a warm, malty embrace.
Bottled at an honest 60% ABV (or slightly less, depending on the expression), New Make Spirit - Made by Edinburgh is perfect for whisky enthusiasts looking to explore the raw heart of their favourite drams. It’s a versatile spirit, equally suited for sipping neat (if you dare!), exploring with a splash of water, or used as a bold base for creative cocktails.
This is Edinburgh’s distilling heritage in its purest form—a chance to connect with the very beginning of the whisky journey. Whether you’re an experienced whisky drinker or a curious newcomer, New Make Spirit - Made by Edinburgh is a fascinating addition to your collection, offering insight, character, and a taste of what’s to come.
Made by Edinburgh is the culmination of an extensive exploration of heritage beer yeasts and specialty malts. In creating this unique New Make, they combined their learnings from previous releases in the Brewer's Series.
Edinburgh ale yeast, with a mash bill recipe inspired by an 80 Shilling Ale recipe; a combination of distilling malt and two specialty malts; Crystal Malt, and Chocolate Malt.
