This is That Boutique-y Whisky Company’s second batch of Macallan, and it’s a playful nod to a Speyside legend known for its sherry-soaked splendour and cult-like following. Produced at one of the most iconic (and most secretive) distilleries in Scotland, Macallan Batch 2 captures everything you love about the brand, but with a Boutique-y twist.
The label? A cheeky conundrum: is that a giant inspecting the Curiously Small Stills? Or a regular-sized chap gazing at a suspiciously miniature replica? Either way, it’s all a bit mysterious, just like what goes on behind those hallowed Macallan gates.
Inside the bottle, expect the signature richness and structure you’d expect from this Speyside giant, wrapped in the bold, small-batch style that Boutique-y does best.
Nose: Sticky toffee pudding, dried figs, orange marmalade and antique wood polish.
Palate: Dense with sultanas, clove, cinnamon bark, roasted nuts, and soft leather.
Finish: Long and warming with spiced fruitcake, oak, and a whisper of cocoa dust.
