Yantra Tenuta Sette Cieli 2016. Sette Cieli emerged onto the Tuscan landscape a few years after the Bolgheri appellation boundaries were established. Initially conceived as a space for breeding horses and a family retreat, it sits above Gaja's Bolgheri property, Ca' Marcanda, and even beyond the woods on the hillside adjacent to Sassicaia. The decision to plant vines began in 2000 when wine enthusiasts, visiting the property, pointed out the iconic vineyards of Sassicaia and Masseto.
Since 2012, Ambrogio Cremona Ratti, the young inheritor of the domain, has steered the estate. Collaborating with winemaker Elena Pozzolini, who brings international experience from Argentina and California, and drawing on a viticultural team from Ornellaia, Sette Cieli is positioned for greatness. As noted by Matthew Jukes, this estate is on the path to becoming a superstar in the world of wine.
This wine is super sleek, featuring velvety tannins and intense dark fruits like blackberries and blackcurrants. Notes of graphite, licorice, and asphalt add intriguing complexity, leading to a herbal bittersweet finish. While reminiscent of a robust St Estephe, it maintains a beautiful lightness, offering nuanced and intriguing qualities. A proper decant enhances its evolution, and after 3 or 4 years, it promises superb quality, with aging potential beyond.
