Thompson Bros Highland 19yo Bourbon Cask

The Thompson Bros Highland 19 Year Old is a limited-release Highland single malt showcasing the elegant, fruit-led character that can develop through long maturation in first-fill Bourbon barrels.

Aged for 19 years, this independently bottled single malt has been matured in first-fill Bourbon barrels, bringing together mature orchard fruit, creamy vanilla and cereal sweetness while allowing the underlying spirit to remain clearly expressed.

The nose opens with ripe peach and pear, accompanied by digestive biscuits and soft vanilla. On the palate, cereal and creamy custard notes come forward, joined by apple and delicate orchard fruits. Light tannins provide gentle structure without overwhelming the softer fruit and malt character.

The finish takes a slightly more savoury turn, with prickly pear alongside lingering cereal and biscuit notes.

Bottled at 44.5% ABV, the whisky is presented at natural colour and without chill filtration. With only 504 bottles produced, this is a particularly limited Thompson Bros release and an appealing example of a well-aged Highland single malt matured entirely in Bourbon wood.
