Seasonal Release | Peated Single Malt | Limited Edition
Welcome to winter on the farm—where the fires are lit, the soil is turned, and the whisky is seriously smoky. The Lochlea Ploughing Edition: 3rd Crop is the latest seasonal expression from Ayrshire’s fiercely independent farm distillery, and it’s everything we love about this time of year: earthy, warming, and wonderfully peated.
This release marks the final chapter in Lochlea’s seasonal series, closing the cycle with peat smoke and cold-weather character, but still carrying the distillery’s signature spirit-driven clarity.
Matured in a combination of Islay ex-peated quarter casks and first-fill bourbon barrels, this is a limited-edition Lowlander with coastal soul and serious structure.
Edition: Ploughing – 3rd Crop
Cask Types: First-fill Bourbon & Peated Quarter Casks
ABV: 46%
Natural Colour & Non-Chill Filtered
Limited Release: Seasonal Edition – when it’s gone, it’s gone
Lochlea's Ploughing Edition shows just how expressive a lightly peated Lowland dram can be. With its mix of Islay cask influence and farm-grown spirit, this is a release that feels grounded, seasonal, and seriously collectible.
Whether you're chasing flavour or building out a whisky library with bottles that mean something, this 3rd Crop deserves a place in your winter line-up.
Nose: Freshly lit campfire, crisp green apple, and charred oak. A gentle thread of coastal brine beneath warming spice—think cracked black pepper and clove.
Palate: Sweet vanilla and toffee from the bourbon casks glide in first, before dry smoke and earthy peat take hold. There’s a lovely interplay here: honeyed malt, chargrilled citrus, and soft smoke in perfect balance.
Finish: Long and dry with lingering smoke, a touch of salted caramel, and a faint whisper of medicinal peat—more Islay than Lowland, but always unmistakably Lochlea.
