The Kilchoman Family Collection 20 Year Old Bourbon Cask is a landmark release that marks a defining chapter in the distillery's history. As Kilchoman's oldest general release to date, it stands as the centrepiece of the inaugural Family Collection (1st Edition), unveiled during Fèis Ìle 2026. Selected during the Wills family's annual review of Kilchoman's maturing stock, this exceptional whisky celebrates two decades of patient maturation and the vision that has shaped one of Scotland's most admired independent distilleries.
Matured exclusively in ex-Bourbon casks, the whisky is crafted from heavily peated barley sourced from Port Ellen Maltings, allowing Kilchoman's signature maritime character to evolve over twenty years without losing its unmistakable identity. Time has softened the bold Islay peat into an elegant thread that weaves effortlessly through layers of sweet vanilla, ripe orchard fruit, honey, toasted oak, and delicate citrus.
The nose is refined and beautifully balanced, while the palate delivers remarkable depth with creamy vanilla, soft caramel, baked apples, gentle spice, and mature oak combining with graceful coastal smoke. The finish is exceptionally long, leaving lingering notes of sweet malt, citrus zest, warming spice, and refined peat that continue to unfold long after the final sip.
Bottled at 50.9% ABV, with natural colour and without chill filtration, this rare release is personally curated by the five members of the Wills family, whose signatures appear on the presentation as a mark of authenticity. A fitting flagship for the debut Family Collection, it showcases just how beautifully Kilchoman's spirit rewards extended maturation.
