The Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Batch 2 is a seven-year-old single malt that pairs the distillery's fruit-forward unpeated spirit with an extended secondary maturation in Ruby Port casks. Following the first release in 2025, Batch 2 returns a year older and with almost four years of Port cask influence.
Produced from unpeated malted barley, the spirit undergoes a minimum 72-hour fermentation before two slow distillations through Glasgow Distillery's small copper pot stills. This approach creates a naturally fruity spirit with a rich, waxy texture that provides an excellent foundation for cask maturation.
The whisky initially spent three years and ten months in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, developing creamy vanilla and oak sweetness. It was then transferred into Ruby Port casks for a further three years and eleven months, an unusually substantial secondary maturation that brings layers of ripe summer berries, dark cherries and rich fruit to the whisky.
Bottled at a robust batch strength, the palate combines vibrant vanilla and marzipan with sweet almond and juicy red fruits, while a delicate pink peppercorn spice provides contrast and balance. The Ruby Port casks have also given the whisky its distinctive natural pink hue.
Limited to just 1,200 bottles, Batch 2 is presented at natural colour and without chill filtration, preserving the full flavour and texture of this richly fruity Glasgow single malt.
