Introducing the Domaine de la Solitude Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2023, a distinguished white wine from the esteemed Famille Lançon. This vintage exemplifies the rich heritage and meticulous craftsmanship synonymous with the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in France's Rhône Valley.
Grape Composition and Terroir
This 2023 blend comprises 30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 25% Roussanne, and 15% Bourboulenc. The grapes are sourced from the estate's finest vineyards, including the renowned "La Crau" plateau and the "Vallon de la Solitude," characterised by their unique terroirs of safres and rounded pebbles. These soils impart finesse, elegance, and structure to the wine.
Vinification and Aging
Harvested by hand in the cool morning hours, the grapes undergo gentle pressing after a brief skin maceration. Fermentation and aging are tailored to each varietal: Roussanne ferments and matures in barrels, while Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Bourboulenc are vinified in vats to preserve their fresh character. A portion of the wine (10%) is aged in new oak barrels, with additional aging in one-wine barrels and foudres, all on fine lees for 10 months.
