The legend behind this whisky dates back to 1263, when a member of the Mackenzie clan saved King Alexander III from a charging stag. This heroic act is captured in a painting that hangs in Edinburgh's national gallery.
Six cask finishes – including small batch Bourbon casks, Matusalem Oloroso Sherry casks, Madeira casks, Marsala casks, Port pipes, and Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques – are artfully combined to create a whisky that is truly unique. This exceptional marriage of cask types results in a whisky with a rich and captivating flavour profile, offering a symphony of nuanced tastes and aromas. This whisky is totally unique as it's matured in a combination of 6 different casks: Bourbon, Sherry, Madeira, Marsala, Port and Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, giving a truly unique and hugely complex dram.
