Rattray's Marlin Flake 50g Tin.
A traditional flake, this is an unflavoured blend of Black Cavendish, Perique and Virginia tobacco.
Rattray's Marlin Flake presents a rich, dark brown flake comprised of Black Cavendish, Perique, and various Virginia tobaccos. These tobaccos undergo a pressing process, followed by mellowing and uniform cutting. Considered as Old Gowrie's darker, sweeter, and milder counterpart, Marlin Flake substitutes Kentucky with Black Cavendish, yet maintains the same level of quality and meticulous craftsmanship.
The flavour profile of Marlin Flake is characterised by tangy, sweet Virginia, mildly sugary Cavendish, and the distinctive plum-like, figgy notes of Perique. Smoking these flakes conjures flavours reminiscent of a currant bun—doughy, savoury, and sweet all at once. Rubbing out the flakes is a pleasurable experience, resulting in a fine crumb of short ribbon. When lit, Marlin Flake burns cool and slow, delivering a smooth and consistent flavour profile throughout the bowl.
