Banfi Rosso di Montalcino – Poggio alle Mura 2022
Here’s a Rosso di Montalcino that struts with tradition and polish, Banfi’s Poggio alle Mura 2022. Made entirely from Sangiovese, it's the elegant little sibling of Brunello, offering that famous Montalcino character in a fresher, more accessible package.
Emerging from stony, sandy-calcareous soils on Banfi’s historic estate, this wine ages for 12 months in a combination of large French oak casks and smaller barriques, giving it depth without heaviness.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Inviting aromas of ripe cherries and blackberries mingle with liquorice, tobacco, and nutty undertones.
Palate: Medium-bodied and fresh, with plush red fruit supported by a structured, soft texture and a long, satisfying finish, elegant and well-balanced.
It’s an ideal match for red meats, savoury game, or medium-aged cheeses, and its approachable structure means it’s drinkable now or cellar-worthy for the medium term.
Elegant Sangiovese from Banfi, lively red fruit, liquorice, tobacco, and soft structure in a refined Rosso di Montalcino.
