Old Pulteney 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
A bakery by the shore? Sounds bizarre, but that’s what the aroma of sea air and freshly-baked pastries seems to suggest. Mouthwatering, by any means.  It’s a relaxed maritime dram, not the stormy squalls of Islay or Skye, but unmistakably coastal yet sweet and satisfying. A double gold winner at the 2006 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and it has continued to pick up awards ever since.
Light and crisp with a little crème anglaise, layered spices and some musty oak. There is citrus, too - lemon and lime, or orange in some later bottlings. The lashings of sea salt build in the finish, with the spices continuing to ping around the palate.
This coastal malt is in theme with notes of brine as well as citrus.
