The Montecristo Double Edmundo 2013 House Reserve is a rare and highly matured expression of one of Cuba’s most iconic cigar brands. Presented in a dressed box of 25 cigars, this Aged & Rare release combines the pedigree of Montecristo with over a decade of controlled ageing within Hunters & Frankau’s UK warehouse, resulting in a refined and deeply evolved smoking experience.
Originally introduced as part of the Línea Edmundo range in 2013, the Double Edmundo is a modern Cuban vitola designed to deliver both richness and accessibility. This particular release originates from the initial production year and has since undergone more than 10 years of additional maturation, transforming its original character into something smoother, more rounded and more complex.
As part of the House Reserve programme, each cigar has been carefully inspected by Habanos S.A. technicians, stamped “Revisado” and individually finished with an Aged & Rare footband. Each box also carries full certification and release documentation, confirming its provenance and extended ageing.
Handmade entirely from long filler tobacco sourced from Cuba’s Vuelta Abajo region, the Double Edmundo delivers a classic medium to full bodied profile. The larger ring gauge allows for a generous, cool smoke, while the extended length provides time for the blend to fully evolve.
With age, the profile has softened and integrated beautifully. What was once a richer, more youthful expression now presents a more elegant balance, revealing notes of cedar wood, soft cocoa and gentle roasted sweetness. Underneath, subtle earth and restrained spice remain, adding structure without overpowering the refined character.
The finish is long, smooth and increasingly nuanced, making this a cigar that rewards patience, attention and time.
