Hoyo de Monterrey traces its origins to the heart of the Vuelta Abajo zone, in the town of San Juan y Martinez. Here, nestled among the fertile lands, lies the Hoyo de Monterrey plantation, esteemed as one of the great Vegas de Primera. Accessible through a gate on the town's main square proudly inscribed "Hoyo de Monterrey. Jose Gener. 1960."

The name "Hoyo" translates to "hole," a nod to the plantation's unique, low-lying position along the banks of the San Juan y Martinez River. José Gener, hailing from Tarragona, Spain, introduced the name of his vega to a brand of Habanos in 1865, marking the beginning of a storied legacy.

Hoyo de Monterrey cigars are celebrated for their blend, appealing to those who seek a delicate yet aromatic Habano with remarkable elegance and complexity.

The brand is renowned for its Double Corona and the prestigious Epicure series, which includes the No.1 and No.2, with the longer Epicure Especial added in 2008. Additionally, the Le Hoyo Series offers vitolas known for their slightly stronger and spicier profiles compared to the brand's classic range.

Each cigar is meticulously handcrafted using the ‘tripalarga, totalmente a mano’ method—long filler, totally handmade—crafted from filler and binder leaves exclusively sourced from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco zone.
