Kilchoman Family Collection 18yo Bourbon Cask

The Kilchoman Family Collection 18 Year Old Bourbon Cask is one of the defining expressions within the inaugural Family Collection (1st Edition), selected during the Wills family's annual review of Kilchoman's maturing casks. Chosen by Anthony Wills and the founding family, it reflects both the character of the distillery and the remarkable maturity that Kilchoman's spirit can achieve after nearly two decades in oak.

Matured exclusively in ex-Bourbon barrels, this 18 Year Old showcases the elegant evolution of Kilchoman's heavily peated spirit. Produced using barley malted to 50ppm at Islay's Port Ellen Maltings, the vibrant maritime peat of the new make has softened beautifully over time, becoming seamlessly integrated with the creamy sweetness and gentle oak influence of long bourbon cask maturation.

The nose is wonderfully inviting, offering layers of vanilla fudge, ripe orchard fruits, honey, toasted coconut, and fresh citrus, complemented by refined coastal smoke. On the palate, rich vanilla cream, buttery shortbread, sweet malt, and soft oak spices mingle effortlessly with rounded peat smoke, creating a whisky of exceptional balance and depth. The finish is long, warming, and graceful, leaving lingering notes of citrus zest, vanilla, gentle spice, and elegant Islay smoke.

Bottled at 50% ABV, with natural colour and without chill filtration, this limited Family Collection release captures the maturity, balance, and complexity that make older Kilchoman whiskies so rewarding.
