The House of McCallum McExplorer Double Estate Rum is a distinctive and characterful rum that celebrates exploration, craftsmanship, and creative expression. This bottle of rum comes presented with a beautifully illustrated carton and label by Gordon Mitchell of Edinburgh School of Art, with a design that reflects a love of travel, adventure, and subtle humour.
This exceptional rum brings together two Indian Ocean terroirs and two traditional distillation styles. One component is a French-inspired rum distilled from pure sugarcane juice, while the second is produced from molasses, following established regional traditions. The blend is further enhanced through double distillation, combining pot still and column still methods to deliver depth, balance, and complexity.
Aged between 5 and 12 years in American oak casks, the rum is then finished in vintage ruby port casks, adding layers of richness, elegance, and gentle fruit sweetness. Bottled at 43.5% ABV, McExplorer is refined yet approachable, offering both structure and warmth.
