The Gaia Notios Red Agiorgitiko Syrah 2025 is a vibrant and fruit-forward Greek red, combining the indigenous Agiorgitiko grape with Syrah to create a fresh, approachable wine packed with character.
Produced by Gaia Wines in the Peloponnese, the blend comprises 85% Agiorgitiko and 15% Syrah. The Agiorgitiko fruit comes from low-yielding, non-irrigated vineyards on the hills surrounding Nemea, where shallow clay over limestone helps retain moisture and encourages concentrated flavours in the grapes.
The fruit is hand-picked and chilled before vinification, followed by a 48-hour cold soak. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures before malolactic conversion and cold stabilisation. The wine is deliberately produced without oak ageing, preserving the freshness and purity of its fruit.
Youthful and expressive, the nose offers intense summer pudding fruits, while the palate introduces fresh herbs, liquorice and gentle spice. A refreshing, velvety texture is supported by soft tannins and a well-structured palate, leading into a deliciously vibrant finish.
Notios means "The Southerner" in Greek, a fitting name for this lively expression of the Peloponnese.
