The Ballindalloch 2016 Vintage Release is the second Vintage Release from the family-owned Speyside distillery and has been bottled exclusively for the UK market.
Distilled in 2016, this limited release brings together a selection of casks personally chosen by Guy Macpherson-Grant, showcasing several of the cask styles used within Ballindalloch's maturation programme. The vatting combines a first-fill sherry butt, filled at the spirit's original distillation strength, with first-fill Bourbon hogsheads and a single refill Bourbon barrel.
This combination allows Ballindalloch's elegant, fruit-driven house style to remain at the forefront while introducing layers of vanilla sweetness, caramel and gentle oak spice.
Fresh pear, crisp apple and citrus zest lead the nose, accompanied by creamy vanilla, soft malt and delicate floral notes. The palate remains bright and beautifully balanced, with ripe orchard fruits joined by smooth caramel, sherbet-like citrus and honeyed malt. Gentle oak spice provides structure without overpowering the fresher fruit character.
Bottled at 48% ABV, non-chill filtered and presented at natural colour, the finish is clean and elegant, leaving lingering orchard fruit, vanilla cream, malt sweetness and warming oak.
