Glasgow Distillery 1770 Cognac Cask Finish Batch 2
Experience the innovative craftsmanship of The Glasgow Distillery with their limited-edition Cognac Cask Finish release, part of the distinguished Small Batch Series. This series exemplifies the distillery's versatility, showcasing their three whisky styles: peated, unpeated, and triple distilled single malts, each with unique and exciting cask maturations.
A Unique Marriage: The Glasgow 1770 Cognac Cask Finish is a meticulously crafted six-year-old whisky. It is created by marrying five casks: two containing peated single malt and three holding unpeated single malt. Initially, the whisky spent over three years in first fill ex-bourbon barrels, followed by an extended finishing period of 3 years and 4 months in French Cognac casks.
Cognac Influence: Cognac, a French brandy made from grapes and distilled twice in copper pot stills, is aged in oak casks for a minimum of two years. This influence imparts notes of fresh fruit, caramel, toffee, and a slight nuttiness to the whisky.
Previous Releases: The Glasgow Distillery first used Cognac casks in 2022 for their Small Batch Series, finishing their peated single malt in Cognac casks and bottling it at 56% ABV. In 2023, they followed up with a Triple Distilled Cognac finished single malt at 52% ABV. This current edition marks the first time the distillery has combined both peated and non-peated whiskies for a Cognac-influenced release.
Tasting Notes: Expect a harmonious blend of peated and unpeated profiles, enriched by the Cognac cask finish. The result is a whisky with layers of complexity, featuring fruity sweetness, rich caramel, toffee nuances, and a touch of nuttiness.
The Glasgow 1770 Cognac Cask Finish is a testament to The Glasgow Distillery's commitment to innovation and quality, offering whisky enthusiasts a unique and memorable tasting experience.
