Thompson Bros Caol Ila 13 yo

The Thompson Bros Caol Ila 13 Year Old is a limited UK-exclusive release combining the distillery’s unmistakable coastal and smoky character with an unusually vibrant mix of savoury, citrus and creamy flavours.

Distilled at Caol Ila in 2013, this Islay single malt was matured for 13 years in a rejuvenated hogshead before being bottled by Thompson Bros. The release is particularly limited, with an outturn of just 212 bottles.

The nose immediately shows a more unusual side to Caol Ila, with green pepper, jalapeño and guindilla chilli alongside pickled walnut and preserved lemon. Sweeter notes of banana, vanilla custard and condensed milk provide a creamy contrast to the sharper, savoury aromas.

On the palate, the distillery’s smoke becomes more prominent, bringing BBQ embers and smoked butter together with fresh oyster shell and a lively underlying sweetness.

The finish is long and warming, with spice and herbal vermouth notes developing alongside dry, woody tones for a clean and characterful conclusion.

Bottled at a robust 54.9% ABV, this UK exclusive is presented at natural colour and without chill filtration, with distinctive label artwork by KMGYEAH.
