Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Batch 2

The Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured 8 Year Old Batch 2 brings together two sides of The Glasgow Distillery's character, marrying equal proportions of its double-distilled unpeated and peated single malts.

Batch 2 is created from eight first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, comprising four peated and four unpeated casks, each matured for a minimum of eight years. By relying solely on Bourbon cask maturation, the whisky puts the focus firmly on the distillery's spirit, allowing its naturally fruity and tropical character to sit alongside creamy oak sweetness and gentle smoke.

Both styles undergo a minimum 72-hour fermentation followed by two slow distillations through the distillery's small copper pot stills. Different spirit cut points give the unpeated whisky its fruity, waxy character, while the peated component brings additional richness, texture and smoke.

Maturation in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels develops generous notes of vanilla, floral honey and shortbread, complemented by bright citrus and tropical fruits. The peated spirit introduces a measured layer of sweet smoke without overwhelming the fruit, while oak spice builds towards a long and warming finish.

Bottled at 54% ABV batch strength, with natural colour and without chill filtration, Batch 2 is a confident showcase of Glasgow 1770's house style with the casks providing support rather than taking centre stage.
