Boveda packs are scientifically engineered to maintain exact relative humidity (RH) levels. Each pack contains a specially prepared saturated solution of pure water and natural salt, enclosed within a water-vapour permeable "reverse osmosis" membrane. In an enclosed space, Boveda releases or absorbs purified water vapour as needed to maintain the predetermined RH level.
