Hoyo de Monterrey has its origins rooted in San Juan y Martinez, at the heart of the esteemed Vuelta Abajo zone. Accessible through a gate on the town's main square inscribed "Hoyo de Monterrey. Jose Gener. 1960," the Hoyo de Monterrey plantation stands as one of the distinguished Vegas de Primera.

The name "Hoyo," meaning "hole," aptly describes the plantation's location in a low-lying area along the fertile banks of the San Juan y Martinez River. José Gener, a Spaniard from Tarragona, first adorned his vega's name on a brand of Habanos in 1865, marking the genesis of a celebrated cigar lineage.

Hoyo de Monterrey cigars are prized for their blend, appealing to aficionados who appreciate a delicate yet aromatic Habano with unparalleled elegance and complexity.

The brand is renowned for its Double Corona and the prestigious Epicure series, which includes the No.1 and No.2, accompanied by the longer Epicure Especial introduced in 2008. Additionally, the Le Hoyo Series offers vitolas known for their slightly stronger and spicier profiles compared to the brand's classic range.

Every cigar is meticulously handcrafted using the ‘tripalarga, totalmente a mano’ method—long filler, entirely handmade—crafted from filler and binder leaves sourced exclusively from the Vuelta Abajo tobacco zone.

Petit Robusto

Introduced in 2004, the Petit Robusto could easily have been named Epicure No.3 due to its striking resemblance in presentation and taste profile to the Epicure No. 1 and No. 2. This cigar foresaw the challenges posed by smoking bans, offering enthusiasts a compact yet satisfying smoke.
